June 2018 part 9: taking off

We spent our last night in Rhode Island at an airport hotel.

In the morning, with the kids at camp, we cleaned the house and locked it up for the last time. Our feelings were ... complicated.

Too late indeed.

On our last day in Rhode Island, we visited Brown's Marcus Aurelius statue (a copy of my favorite from the Campidoglio in Rome) ...

... and some more recent additions to campus.

The time came to pick the kids up from camp. They'd spent the week at Gordon making sidewalk-chalk messages with friends ...

... and building forts in the woods.

Oliver gave his beloved school a hug and kiss goodbye ...

... and then our cross-country road trip began.
