July Part 1 of 6 (to Oregon!)

*** July 2017, that is. Things have been a little wild over the past year or so, as we spent our attention on the small matter of relocating our family from Rhode Island to Oregon. Which, I suppose, makes the title of this post appropriate. We have a few posts (well, twelve, actually) that have been in the hopper for several months. After those go up, we'll try to post strings of pictures to get caught up to the present -- including pictures of our efforts to check off Rhode Island bucket list items, our grand drive from Rhode Island through Massachusetts, New York, Ontario, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Idaho to Oregon, and our efforts to settle in as newly minted west coasters. We might cut down on the written commentary, though. So ... stay tuned for more soon! ***

Waaaay back in July, we went to Oregon.  Our first order of business was to play!

One of the main draws to Orenco Woods Nature Park was "Head Over Heels," a sculpture by Patrick Dougherty --

-- the artist whose work followed us from Carleton ("Twigonometry") to Brown ("Square Roots").

We also visited a wooden trestle bridge ...

... and played at the nearby Cooper Mountain playground.

Before we knew it, the Fourth of July arrived!  The kiddos got to experience some mild pyrotechnics.

They were impressed ...

... and happy.
