Sumer is icumen in

Last week, Oliver was happy.

And with good reason.  He lives the high life.  When we arrived to pick him up one day, we found him kicking back, ankles crossed, drinking a bottle.

Madeline's doing well for herself too.  She's been in underwear for over a week now and was especially proud of this note from school:

Oliver now has two shiny bottom teeth.

And he's a curious fellow.  Here he is on his lovely new dinosaur quilt!

Saturday morning, we had banana chocolate chip pancakes.  This pleased Oliver.

Then we went to the University of Rhode Island's East Farm Spring Festival!  We got lots of plants and just enjoyed the nice weather.

Madeline made this "wind spinner."

We played with dandelions.

Madeline contemplated her lunchtime burger.

And, as usual, Oliver just enjoyed the whole thing.

After lunch, we were joined by Holden and her family.  Together, the kids made more crafts.

They took their tasks seriously.

Sunday morning, I took the kids to the grocery store when it opened at 7.

We also brought home pastries from Crugnale Bakery.  And after that, we went to Olga's for a proper brunch!

It was beautiful in the garden.

After brunch, we met up with Ilan and family at Buttonwoods City Park in Warwick.  Oliver was happy to see Avigail.

And he was happy for the opportunity to romp in a field ...

... though he was a bit jealous of Madeline and Ilan's more advanced romping abilities.

Madeline and Ilan certainly had fun running around and clambering all over this interesting structure.

As if all that wasn't enough, we came home and Summer and Madeline ventured out to our front garden to plant sunflowers they'd started from seed.

While we were in the garden, our neighbors also popped over to give us some hostas, which we proceeded to plant in the back yard.

The kids have been very high-energy lately ...

... probably a sign that summer is just about here!

  1. I thought I spotted a tooth in a recent picture. I have to tell you; I get "tired" just looking at pictures of Madeline. You can "see" energy when you look at her! That is a great quilt - I can think of some grown-ups who would probably like one too :) xo N
