Memorial Day Weekend, Part 2

In our last post, we left off on Sunday at the Audubon center.

In addition to the aforementioned elements of the trip, we saw lots of red-winging blackbirds ...

... and frogs.

After the Audubon center, we continued down into Bristol for ice cream at the Daily Scoop -- yum!

On Monday, Oliver and Mira played together some more.

And, after brunch at the Mesa Cafe, we visited the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center.

The gardens appeared to be under renovation, but the babies enjoyed themselves anyway.

So did Madeline.

After the garden visit ...

... Anna, Neal, and Mira had to head back home.  And we realized that Madeline was sick.

So today I stayed home with her.  We watched Frozen and Babe.

We also ate limeade popsicles during one of the brief periods when Madeline was not balled up on the futon.

This evening she still had a fever, so she'll be home again tomorrow. Poor little kiddo.

Memorial Day Weekend, Part 1

Oliver had his checkup last week and was pronounced healthy and large.  As usual, he enjoyed the experience.

Madeline spent her week trying to become some sort of garden spirit.

Friday morning, Anna, Neal, and Mira flew in for a visit.

Later that day, we visited Meshanticut Pond.

There, we saw a nesting swan ...

... and a family of geese.

On Saturday, we went to the farmers market.  Madeline was sidetracked by the Lippitt Park playground.  She surprised all of us by clambering up this climbing wall without a second thought, then sliding down the big slide.

Apparently, the exertion made her hungry.

Baby Mira seemed to like our house.

And she and Oliver got along well.  Here they are playing on Sunday at the Audubon Environmental Education center in Bristol.

At the Audubon center, we also took a walk down the boardwalk to the bay.

Madeline alternated between riding ...

... and running.

To be continued ...

9 months!

We missed Madeline's 39-month chair picture, but she joined Oliver for his 9-month shots:

He took some solos too:

He's a busy guy.

Today he had his checkup.  He measured 29 inches long and weighed in at 22 pounds, 2.5 ounces. In addition to being a busy guy, he's a healthy guy too.

Last week, plant sale, library, gardening, birthday party!

Here are some pictures from last week:

Saturday morning, we went to Madeline's fourth annual Southside Community Land Trust Plant Sale (Year 1, Year 2, Year 3).  As usual, we got lots of plants!

We dropped the plants off at home, then returned some books to the library and picked out some new ones.

After the library, we paid a visit to Forest Hills Nurseries ...

... a veritable oasis located only a half mile from our house.

Then we spent the rest of the day in the yard ...

... assessing our gardens ...

... making a new plot ...

... and getting our new plants in the dirt.

We'll see how they do this year...

Sunday morning, we went to Holden's birthday party!

Madeline had lots of fun.

Holden lives near a playground, so after a while the party picked up and moved over there.

Then on Sunday afternoon ...

... I took Madeline out for a run with the jogging stroller and came back red-faced.  Oliver was mildly amused.

Look out for a separate post with chair pictures!
