Art and birthday party

Today I managed to comb out Madeline's hair and pull it back in a ponytail.  We were both happy about this.

Then we made art on Madeline's chalkboard.  Madeline drew a person with a body, two arms, a round head, two eyes, and a mouth -- not bad!

She was happy about her art.

Oliver has been crying about gas pains, but for some reason swaddling calmed him down today.

Part of the reason Madeline was happy this morning is because she was looking forward to her friend Juliet's third birthday party!  After her nap, Madeline and I wrapped Juliet's present (a snow leopard and book she picked out at the zoo yesterday).

Then came the party!

Juliet's parents hired a man who sang and played guitar, ukulele, and harmonica.  Madeline and Juliet danced.

And there was cake, of course.

Oliver wasn't sure what to make of the whole thing.

But it seemed to tire him out -- back at home, we napped together while Summer helped Madeline with her bath and bedtime routine.
