Welcome to Clover and Beetle

I suspect all our loyal readers know that we'll soon be joined by a little boy we've been calling "Beetle" (Madeline's very insistent coinage).  In order to pay proper attention to both Clover and Beetle, we needed to move from "The Sprout" to, well, "Clover and Beetle."  So here we are.

Madeline is very excited for Beetle's arrival.  Look closely at the first picture in this post and perhaps you'll be able to tell that her shirt reads "Big Sister" -- Madeline couldn't wait to wear it on Tuesday, and she told all her friends and teachers about it at school.

Tuesday night, Summer was out at a work-related function, so Madeline and I ate pizza on the futon while watching Dumbo.

Madeline loves Dumbo.  "The baby elephant is so cute!"

On Thursday, apparently, we ate food!

On Saturday, we went to a party for a friend who got her PhD!  Madeline enjoyed the strawberries.

She also enjoyed chasing the hosts' cat and playing cars with Alexander.

All of us enjoyed the view.

Later, Summer went to a bridal shower while Madeline and I read Calvin and Hobbes.

Yesterday, Madeline and Summer said a toast and clinked bananas.

Later, we went to the zoo!

And today, Madeline and Summer started filling out My New Baby and Me: A First-Year Record Book for Big Brothers and Sisters together.  Then, after dinner, Madeline took a bath with lots of bubbles.

  2. Nothing beats a good banana toast when you are either almost two and a half years old or almost nine months pregnant! It is a wonderful new site and it is going to be so exciting to see Beetle's "premiere" and to watch Sprout become a big sister before our eyes. What a thrill and a delight and a privilege it has been to follow the Sprout Blog and to watch Madeline grow and change into this amazing little person. Thank you Summer, Max, and Maddie. See you soon, Beetle!
