January, part 1: settling in

Pretty much as soon as we were back on our feet in Rhode Island, Petey was due in for a veterinary appointment.  Oliver insisted on testing Petey's carrier to make sure it was suitable:

Then we had our first visit from a fluffy cat that the kiddos have christened Rosie or Daisy -- they can't settle on which.  We sealed off our family room and let Rosie/Daisy come in and check things out for a few minutes before she dashed off into the night.

One morning, we ventured southward and finally visited the flagship location of Allie's Donuts ...

... and we took our donuts into the woods ...

... and toward the water ...

... where we ate them on a bench overlooking the bay.

Perfecto.

The excursion was both satisfying and exhausting.

Also in early January, we set up the toy kitchen that was the kiddos' Christmas gift from Nanny and Pop Pop.  They were enthralled!

Another favorite mid-winter activity is playing dress-up.  Usually the kiddos get silly ...

... but occasionally they get serious.
