End of October, part one

These posts are way overdue.

The kiddos were excited about the end of October.

The leaves were turning pretty colors.  "That's maple color!" observed Madeline.

There was plenty of dancing to be done ...

... and dinosaur raincoats to be worn.

The colder, darker outside world leaves more time for books.

Madeline has long been a bibliophile, but Oliver seems to be joining ranks with the rest of us now too.  He is particularly fond of Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch.  He points out the dogs ("Dog. Woof woof!"), the bunny, and the pumpkins ("Bop-bips").  He also likes to roar along with Oliver the bear in Oliver Finds His Way.

More October excitement included a visit from the Greene grandparents.

We visited the library together.

And Madeline was thrilled to receive "Maddie Mermaid" as a gift.  She simply loves mermaids right now.

Together, we visited Barden Family Orchard (as usual) to pick apples and select pumpkins.  Oliver was impressed.

We meandered.

And then returned, laden with apples, for two purposes: to pick out our pumpkins ...

... and to munch on some cider doughnuts -- yum!
