Beginning of October

October began with a different type of style altogether.

Madeline tried salt licorice and declared it "BAD."

Instead, she sat with Petey and ate a lollipop.

Oliver has been playing a lot lately with certain toys -- in particular, Madeline's Fisher-Price airplane and her Lettersaurus.

Yesterday morning, we visited our local farmers market (not the usual suspects in Providence or Pawtucket) and then the library.

Rain kept us in the rest of the day, except for a trip to the grocery store.

This morning, Madeline helped Summer make delicious pumpkin chocolate-chip muffins.

Oliver was thrilled.

Then we visited Audubon's George B. Parker Woodland.  It had been almost exactly two years since our most recent visit.  Oliver approved.

Madeline did too -- as long as she could be the "line leader."

Sometimes due to Madeline's stopping to pick up a leaf, rock, or acorn, Oliver and I leapt into the lead, much to her chagrin.

We stopped at our usual spot (2011, 2012) for a snack.

Before leaving our usual spot, we attempted to let the camera take a group shot.

Then we headed back out of the woods.

Back at home, we had some of the watermelon that Madeline had picked out at the farmers market.

Then both kids took simultaneous naps.  This is a rare occurrence.  Oliver woke up first and I played with him in his room to keep him from waking up Madeline.  He wanted to read books ...

... and do other fun stuff.

Still Madeline slept.

When she woke up, it was time to cook dinner and set our evening routine into motion.  And so it goes.
