March for Science

In late April, we marched for science.  Madeline wrote on her sign: SAVE SCIENCE THE WORLD NEEDS SCIENCE.  Oliver went for a more abstract approach.

Which he displayed proudly, blocking out his own face.

Madeline displayed her sign proudly too.

A far cry from previous weeks' unseasonable warmth, the March for Science fell on a cool and rainy day.

But the kiddos were troopers and marched along with the crowd.

Then at the end of the march they met up with Lily, whose sign observed that SCIENCE IS COOL.

This was fun.

And the kiddos posed with their signs (except for Oliver, who'd grown tired of holding his).

Mid April and unseasonable warmth

In the middle of April, the weather was unseasonably warm.

We took advantage of the warmth by going for wagon rides ...

... and doing art outside.

We also went to shanty sing, where Oliver enjoyed sitting at the bar!

But to truly enjoy unseasonable warmth, one must head to the water.

We went to our favorite off-season beach in Charlestown.

There, we stretched out in the sun ...

... and frolicked on the sand.

The kiddos built a sand castle.

And they frolicked some more, gradually losing clothing as time ticked by.

The next day, we decided a freshwater beach was in order.  After all, the water there might be warm enough for swimming!

Sure enough, we did get in the water a bit -- in April, in New England! -- but it was still pretty chilly.  So we focused instead on various pursuits ...

... like building a canal to fill a sand castle moat.

Then it was Easter time!  We dyed eggs ...

... and they were pretty.

Early April & whirlwind Delaware visit

On April Fools Day, the kiddos decided to trick us by dressing up as each other!

Madeline attended a rock-climbing birthday party.

One weekend in early April, we tried on our fancy clothes ...

... and headed to Delaware ...

... where we saw Uncle Alex ...

... and worked hard on congratulatory cards ...

... and headed up to New Jersey ...

... to a lovely venue ...

... with lots of family ...

... for a wedding!

The kiddos danced and danced with Grandma Susy.

The next day, we visited Nanny ...

... and Pop Pop ...

... before heading right back up to Rhode Island again.
